REVISION OF THE RENEWABLE ENERGY DIRECTIVE

A leaked draft of the Directive’s Impact Assessment shows that the Commission is planning:

  • higher 2030 targets for the share of renewables in EU energy consumption (38-40%) and higher still for the share of renewables in buildings (40-45%);
  • heating system replacement obligations separate from energy performance renovation obligations that will concern all EPF members except Danes and Finns (tbc).

Their estimation of the cost of these measures is very ‘creative’ and focused on ‘income classes’ and ‘households’ rather than owners or landlords.
