Role and achievements
At national and local level, the property industry has become much more customer focussed to ensure it meets the changing needs of its tenants. Its actions are based on a vision for the industry in which tenants are provided with the choice of flexible occupational terms and the high levels of service they need consistent with the principles of sound financial and estate management, the requirements of external investors and prevailing market circumstances.

The role of the European Property Federation is to make sure that, at the level of the European Union, politicians and civil servants understand and support these goals and enact policies that help to achieve them.


Membership
The Federation is open to,
  • Real estate associations of Member States of the European Union.
  • Groups of major companies representing a significant proportion of real estate interests in Member States of the European Union.
  • Associations or groupings of real estate interests established outside the European Union can be admitted as Associate Members.

Legal form
The European Property Federation is an
Economic Interest Grouping (EIG) established under Belgian law (R.G.I.E.Bruxelles nº74).


Accounts-Auditors
A statement of the accounts of the Federation, prepared by certified accountants, is provided annually. A statutory auditor appointed by the Managing Committee gathered in general assembly of members certifies the annual accounts.

  • The Managing Committee elects a Chairman from among the persons representing the members, for a term of one year, renewable.

  • The Chairman acts as the Manager of the grouping; he has all the powers necessary to ensure the direction, management and administration of the Federation; he may, under his own authority, delegate all or part of his powers.

  • The Managing Committee, constituted by the general assembly of members, is the supreme governing body of the Federation.

  • Each member is validly represented at the Managing Committee.

  • The Managing Committee meets three times a year as a minimum and convenes as the general assembly of members once a year.

  • It defines the general principles governing the policy and action of the Federation.

  • It is also responsible for its direction and management.

  • It deals with all matters falling within the scope of it's statutory responsibilities.

  • The tasks of the Federation are carried out by the Secretariat, headed by the Director General.

  • The Secretariat acts upon the instructions and under the control of the Chairman who defines its mission and tasks.

  • The role of the Secretariat comprises:

    Lobbying.
    • Monitoring, analysis, strategic advice and lobbying.
    • Regular contact with the Chairman of the
      Managing Committee.
    • Collating, negotiating, drafting of Federation's positions.
    • Production of all position papers.
    • Representation of the Federation vis-a-vis the European authorities.
    • Building bridges with allied European professional federations.
    • Dealing with the press.

    Administration.
    • Secretariat of internal Federation meetings, drafting of minutes.
    • Secretarial work.
    • Carrying out the operational and day to day management.
    • Preparation of the annual budget for approval by the Managing Committee.
    • Keeping accounts with the assistance of certified accountants.
    • Relations with the Belgian authorities, financial institutions, suppliers, accountants, auditors and legal advisers.
    • Editing of the EPF website (internet & intranet).


ADVISORY COMMITTEES


  • The Managing Committee may establish specialised committees to which each member is entitled to appoint a representative.

  • In such cases the Managing Committee defines each committee’s mission and designates a Committee Chairman from amongst the members of the consultative committee concerned.
