BRIEF  HISTORY  AND  ROLE
The  Association  of  Spanish  Property  Companies  (Asociación  de  Inmobiliarias  con  Patrimonio  en  Alquiler)  was  founded  on  5  July  1976.

It  is  a  grouping  of  large  Spanish  property  companies,  several  of  them  quoted,  totalling  more  than  5.500.000  square  metres  of  rental  space  (not  counting  parking  lots)  and  more  than  EUR75,7  billion  in  equity.
PRINCIPAL  ACTIVITIES
Public  affairs.  Since  its  inception  it  has  worked  for  a  series  of  economic,  social  and  tax  measures  benefiting  the  property  sector  and  its  users  and  clients,  drafting  technical  articles  for  an  expert  audience  published  in  the  specialised  legal  press  and  also  preparing  and  publishing  general  articles  about  the  sector  for  the  daily  press.

It  has  been  very  active  in  defending  the  interests  of  the  sector  including  also  small  property  investors  (Larraz  law,  urban  leasehold  law,  regularisation  of  company  tax).  As  a  result,  successive  governments  since  ASIPA’s  founding  have  consulted  with  it  and  taken  on  many  of  its  suggestions.  The  Association  maintains  regular  contact  with  government,  organising  frequent  meetings  with  senior  ministers  and  with  the  political  parties.

Education  and  training.  It  has  patronised  courses  on  management  and  financing  of  property  companies,  as  well  as  seminars  on  taxation.

Forum.  ASIPA  is,  above  all,  a  discussion  forum  where  sector  professionals  can  exchange  ideas  so  as  to  enhance  all  aspects  of  their  business.

ASIPA  was  the  catalyst  for  the  European  integration  of  Spanish  property  companies.
ORGANISATION
The  Association's  governing  bodies  are  the  General  Assembly  constituted  by  all  the  members  of  the  association  and  the  Board  made  up  of  a  minimum  of  5  members  and  a  maximum  of  12,  elected  by  the  General  Assembly.

The  Secretariat  and  the  Chairmanship  of  the  Board  are  held  by  members  of  the  Board,  elected  by  and  from  among  the  members  for  a  period  of  four  years,  renewable.
