BRIEF  HISTORY  AND  ROLE
The  Real  Estate  Council  of  The  Netherlands  (Raad  voor  Onroerende  Zaken,  ROZ,  established  in  1934)  is  the  umbrella  organisation  for  the  property  interests  of  national  associations  of  institutional  investors,  private  investors,  developers,  notaries,  brokers,  social  housing  and  home  owners.

Nowadays  it  mainly  focuses  on  the  ownership  of  property  and  related  activities  such  as  property  financing,  development,  management  and  sales.
PRINCIPAL  ACTIVITIES
ROZ  acts  as  an  "umbrella  of  the  umbrellas"  with  particular  responsibility  for  the  representation  of  collective  Dutch  property  interests  at  EU  level  through  its  membership  of  EPF.

Lobbying.  ROZ  acts  as  a  platform  where  member  organisations  exchange  information  about  major  political  developments  and  lobbying  processes.  At  all  meetings,  a  central  item  is  discussion  of  European  affairs  as  presented  by  EPF,  deciding  on  EU  priorities  and  planning  and  organising  EU-related  action  at  national  level.

Members'  services.  Permanent  national  and  European  monitoring  and  lobbying;  rental  contract  frameworks.
ORGANISATION
The  Executive  Committee  consists  of  two  members  and  a  secretarial  function.

If  and  when  required,  committees  are  set  up  consisting  of  representatives  of  interested  members  or  even  from  outside  the  ROZ  membership.  These  ad  hoc  committees  are  in  place  for  the  time  of  the  lobbying  process.

PUBLICATIONS
Regular    publications  are  the    ROZ    rental    contract    frameworks,  which  can  be  downloaded  from  www.roz.nl  for  free.  A  committee  of  lawyers  are  keeping  the  rental  frameworks  up  to  date      because    of    changes    in    the    legislation    or    decisions    by    the    courts.
On    member    request,    ROZ    also    publishes    topics    of    national    interest    such    as    anticipating  the  impact  of  the  IAS/IFRS  in  2003  and  an  in  depth  study  on  the  effects  of  eventual  changes  in  the  tax  deductable  interest  of  mortgages  on  private  homes  in  2005.  At  the  moment  the  discussion  about  sustainability  is  one  of  the  key  issues,  as  one  can  imagine.
ROZ  regularly  contributes    internationally  to    EPF    publications    such    as    the    report    on    healthy    buildings.
