BRIEF HISTORY AND ROLE
The Finnish Real Estate Federation (established 1907) is the country's central association of limited housing companies, other property owners and private and nonprofit landlords. The organisation represents 20,000 members, of which 85 % are limited housing companies, 15% tenant houses, private property companies, etc.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES
Lobbying. The Federation is consulted directly over draft legislation affecting its members' interests. It also takes own-initiatives to change legislation.
Members' services. The organisation provides advice on legal, technical, fiscal and economic matters. The most important activities are oral and written answers to members’ problems. The Federation also organises lectures on the members' principal concerns. See also "Publications".
Research. The Federation has its own research projects and participates in the management of others. All phases of the building's life cycle are taken into account, the aim being to develop systems and practices for use by the members. Another important aspect is collecting and preparing background information for lobbying.
Training. The Federation is a major shareholder in the Finnish Real Estate Training Institute, a professional training company providing education and training to managers and other staff members in various real estate and maintenance organisations. |
ORGANISATION
The Federation has 26 member associations, one nationwide, the rest local. The nationwide association represents privare landlords. The members of the local associations are mainly limited housing companies and other property companies.
