| BRIEF HISTORY and ROLE |
The Spanish Council of Shopping Centres (AECC-Asociación Española de Centros Comerciales) is the meeting point of an industry, which has based its success on integration, innovation and competition.
Created in 1980 as non-profit organisation of nationwide scope, the AECC binds together people, professionals, companies and institutions in order to create, design, develop and manage Shopping Centres.
Our primary purpose is to constitrute a professional forum and exchange knowledge regarding the present and future of the shopping centre industry, as a response to the needss of today's consumers.
The AECC represents a sector involving 450 shopping centres integrating more than 27.000 retailers over 1.3 billion visitors per year. |
| PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES |
Its primary purpose is to help its members develop and expand their businesses by facilitating points of contact to promote professional networking, keeping them informed about new developments in the sector and representing their interests visàvis public institutions and the mass media.
For this reason, the AECC offers informative and educational activities:
Congresses and Fairs. Every two years we celebrate the Spanish Congress of Shopping Centres, where top experts discuss the hot topics for the industry.
Together with the Conference they have a Commercial Fair and a Trends and Design Exhibition, where companies display their projects, products and services.
In the Conference, the AECC rewards the best Shopping Centres, Retailers and Marketing Campaigns.
Conferences and Seminars. AECC brings together the professionals of the industry at several times a year to share their knowledge and experience of current shopping centres issues. Every two years, AECC also organise a Conference on Shopping Centre Trends.
Study Tours. Every year AECC organise a Study Tour abroad to visit distinguished shopping centres specially for their architecture, dsign, commercial effort, size impact on customers, etc.
Every year, AECC invite all its members to an Annual Meeting in order to facilitate relations and professionnal contacts between them in a friendly and sociable atmosphere.
Representation of the Industry. AECC has a close relationship with the press and other media and it transmit information continuosly about the evolution of the indutry and our activities.
The association represents and defends the interests of the shopping centres towards governmental organisations, authorities and institutions.
AECC represents the shopping centre industry at national and international fairs, participates in various conferences and fora giving information about different aspacts of the industry. |
| ORGANISATION |
The Board of Directors of the AECC is composed of professionals with vast experience and whose careers are noteworthy for their defence of the shopping centre formula for speaking out in its favour.
Although it is based in Madrid, the AECC has permanent delegates in several regions of the country, who reinforce the representation of the company. |

A handbook fot AECC members caaled Las Claves de la AECC with all the contact data othe industry companies, dates and main information about the shopping centres.
Finally, Congress Monographic, a colour magazine which includes the highlights of the Congress. |
